About this machine
The Fimal DR 53 is a combined surfacer-thicknesser for solid wood. In surfacing mode, the operator planes one face flat and uses the fence to straighten an edge. In thicknessing mode, the machine planes the opposite face to bring the workpiece to the required thickness.
Both surfacing tables lift together under power when changing over to thicknessing. The thicknessing table runs on lifting screws and has powered height adjustment with a fine adjustment control. An electronic readout shows the thickness setting.
Several feed speeds are available for thicknessing. Optional cutterblocks include a Tersa cutterblock and a spiral cutterblock.
