Solid Wood Processing

Spindle moulders

Spindle moulders, also known as wood shapers, produce profiles, grooves and rebates along the edges of solid wood workpieces. They are used for door and window components, frames, mouldings and other profiled parts. Template-guided machining of curved workpieces requires tooling and fixtures suited to the application.

Depending on the model, the spindle is fixed or tilting. A tilting spindle allows the tool to work at different angles, within the machine’s adjustment range. For tenoning and end machining, we check whether the machine is equipped with a suitable tenoning carriage and workpiece clamps.

Table extensions and additional supports help guide long workpieces. A power feeder, where fitted, provides a consistent feed during machining.

We select the configuration based on the required profile, workpiece dimensions and tooling. We consider spindle diameter, tool size limits, available spindle speeds and adjustment methods. We also take into account daily production volume and how often operators change between profiles.

Delivery, installation, commissioning and operator training are agreed as part of each project, together with the terms of technical support after installation.
